Women Fight for Your Family In Prayer

Do you know how to fight for your family in prayer?  I was homeschooling my kids one day and while I was listening to one of my kids read through her lesson I haphazardly draped my long braid over the top of my head.  All of the sudden my son shouted,

“Mom! You look like Princess Leia!”

Homeschool came to a grinding halt as my girls looked up and excitedly confirmed his proclamation. “Ya, you do Mom! You look exactly like her.”

I’m not really a star wars buff and I had to ask my kids exactly who Princess Leia is.  They started belting it out.

  • She’s a rebel!
  • She’s a princess!
  • She’s the leader of the rebel alliance!

I’m supposed to be getting ready for church right now but instead I spent time in prayer and now I’m writing this blog post.  Recently after an exceptionally good sermon, I was talking to my pastor and I asked him if he remembered me.  He said he always remembers me because I am a force.  I’m not sure if that was a compliment or not.  But I am certain that there is a force that flows through me.

The Holy Spirit rises up in me sometimes and it is absolute power.  Some people squelch the Holy Spirit, I know I have.  But we are not meant to squelch the gift of God.  It is powerful in pulling down strongholds.

“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”

I have already lifted my prayer to God and soon I’ll be going to church without my husband again.  For years now my husband has been under attack.  The enemy has shamed him, blamed him, distracted him and attacked him.

  • Shame: There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus.
  • Blame: Jesus took the blame! He paid for our sins so we could live for righteousness.
  • Distraction: The enemy wants to get us off track.
  • Attack: The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy. Jesus came so we could have abundant LIFE.

It was through prayer that I realized that my husband was not a total jerk.  It was through prayer that I found relief.   Relief is exactly what you feel when you recognize the truth through answered prayers.  God’s word is truth and if you don’t spend time with God  in prayer and reading the word you won’t be able to discern the truth.

My husband is loved by God, and he has been redeemed by God, which is exactly why the liar has come to my house and family to spew all kinds of slander and fear.  I might not have recognized it except for the fact that the enemy did the same thing to me.  When someone truly starts walking with the Lord, the enemy will do whatever he can to kill, steal and destroy his life.

The enemy will try to kill your relationships and your health, he will steal your joy and your peace by taking your focus off of the life-giver and making you think you have to solve all of your problems yourself.  The enemy will do whatever he can to destroy your life. He will distract you so that you spend your time on foolish pursuits even keeping you up at night so you aren’t  getting any sleep.  He will tempt you to spend your time, talent and treasure in places where God has not called you to put it. Be sure to understand that the enemy will aim to take you out completely and that is exactly the mark he has his sights set on.

Jesus came so that we could have abundant life.  We have been redeemed from the curse which means that we don’t have to strive anymore.  God has called us to do work but it is not stressful, burdensome work.  Our work is to believe on the one whom he sent.

“Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.””

With Jesus, we don’t get what we deserve.  So ladies, fight for your family! Be the suitable helper God designed for you to be to your husband.  Say your prayers and get to church to sing out your praise! God is faithful!  God called me to this battle for a time such as this!

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

So pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest.
