It’s Time to Go Home

Fourteen years ago the Lord sent me back to the Illinois Masonic Children’s Home on my 39th birthday! He gave me a vision for my life. He asked me to give my testimony and to pray for my family and the people I lived with at the Home.
I stand as a witness to you. You’re perhaps feeling broken. Maybe your dreams haven’t come true. Perhaps you’ve been stolen from, lied to, or cheated on. Maybe you feel like God was never there for you when you needed him.
Back in the summer of 2000 my life blew up. A monumental storm swept through my life. Everything I had strived for washed away as easily as a wave of the ocean leveling a sand castle.
If you find that you aren’t satisfied with anything this world has to offer, please consider that this earth was never meant to be your permanent home.
Jesus heals broken hearts. When I learned that lesson, I was cursing God out on an Amtrak train. I felt that I had been duped, and I unrolled my list of accusations against the Lord.
At the end of my rant, I told God that I had made a mess of my life and I needed him to fix it. It was a total surrender spoken in a sarcastic tone. I was broken.
That was where I learned that the Good shepherd doesn’t beat up the sheep who have gone astray. He tenderly cared for me.
I have experienced a new kind of brokenness on my journey to bring you this message. I have expected a good ROI and truly my heart is crushed that so many of you haven’t confessed your need for a savior.
We only have the day we are on. Today could be your turn to learn Jesus heals broken hearts. If you ever want to talk to me, or ask me questions about my faith, I am more than willing, provided it is a genuine connection. Call me, write me a letter, or come over.
April 12, 2026 is Orthodox Easter, and I’ll be celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ with my family.  Orthodox Easter follows the Julian calendar.  The first time this came to my attention was on a year when I noticed that Passover was going to happen after  our church was celebrating Easter.
Passover is a Jewish holiday that celebrates the Exodus of the Israelites from slavery.  Jesus ate the Passover meal with the disciples and then he was crucified.  Jesus is our Passover Lamb.
I hope you all have a lovely Easter this weekend.  Jesus loves you and he proved it by going to the cross to pay for your sins. You can trust him with your broken heart.
The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight.  Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs.  Exodus 12:5-7
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29
“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭18‬-‭19‬
Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. I Corinthians 5:7
